Reports are ABAP/4 programs.

You use reports to evaluate data from database tables.  The results of such an evaluation can be displayed on the screen or printed from.

Reports are stand-alone programs.

Reports are controlled by events.

A report program contains a collection of processing blocks for different events that are always triggered externally.

Reports can use logical databases or select statements defined by developer.

When a report is executed, the ABAP/4 processor creates together with the logical database use (if any) a sequence of certain events for which you can program processing block.  The chronology of the events is (more or less):

They are 3 types of reports

1.Classical Reports.

2.Interactive Reports.

3.ALV Reports.

ABAP Objects is a programming language and part of the ABAP Workbench that allows developers to create and run applications that contain program objects. ABAP Objects includes a virtual machine that will run applications compiled with ABAP Objects language. Like similar object-oriented programming languages, ABAP Objects supports the concepts of class objects, class and subclass inheritance, and polymorphism.

Hi,

reports nothing but display data using classic and interactive list using function modules and some syatem variales.

same functionality will develop by abap objects using oops concepts like methods and predefined classes.

it is usefull and reusablity of methods and classes if u declared as global.

If u use oops totals and subtotals functionalty will develop by single method .no need big coding.

Reward points.

hi ansar,

Reports can be generated using normal ABAP language or Obeject oriented ABAP i.e ABAP OBJECTS.

Normal ABAP is a procedural language.

ABAP OBJECTS is a object oriented language consists of classes and methods concept like java.

Check this links for more details abaout ABAP OBJECTS.
