Infotype is nothing but a Table in HR which stores the Information Data

and IN HR all the data records are based on the Time constraint, so in each infotype you find two time related fields BEGDA and ENDDA fields

HR deals with the INFOTYPES which are similar to Tables in General ABAP.

There are different ways of fetching data from these infotypes.

There are different areas in HR LIKE Personal Admn, Orgn Management, Benefits, Time amangement, Event Management, Payroll etc

Infotypes for these areas are different from one another area.

storing of records data in each type of area is different

LDBS like PNP are used in HR programing.

Instead of Select.. we use some ROUTINES and PROVIDE..ENDPROVIDE.. etc

and in the case of Pay roll we use Clusters and we Import and Export them for data fetching.

On the whole Normal ABAP is different from HR abap.

For Personal Admn the Infotypes start with PA0000 to PA1999

Time Related Infotypes start with PA2000 to PA2999.

Orgn related Infotypes start with HRP1000 to HRP1999.

All custom developed infotypes stsrat with PA9000 onwards.

In payroll processing we use Clusters like PCL1,2,3 and 4.

Instead of Select query we use PROVIDE and ENDPROVIDE..

You have to assign a Logical Database in the attributes PNP.

INfotype in SAP HR is nothing but a logical grouping of similar kind of data.

for example - if u want to store tthe personal details of an employee like first name, last name, nationality, date of birth etc then sap has provided Personnel administration Infotyope named as 0002.

Infotype are classified in belwo categories -

Personnel administration Infotypes, organization infotypes, recruitment etc..

Time Constraint

A time constraint indicates whether more than one infotype record may be available at one time. The following time constraint indicators are permissible:

1: An infotype record must be available at all times. This record may have no time gaps. You may not delete the record last stored on the database because all records of this infotype would otherwise be deleted.

2: Only one record may be available at one time, but time gaps are permitted.

3: Any number of records may be valid at one time, and time gaps are permitted.

Other possible time constraint indicators are as follows:

A: Only one record may ever exist for this infotype. It is valid from 01/01/1800 to 12/31/9999. Splitting is not permissible.

View V_T582B Infotypes Which are Created Automically controls whether the system automatically creates the infotype record for an employee hiring or an applicant data entry action.

Infotypes with time constraint A may not be deleted.

B: Only one record may ever exist for this infotype. It is valid from 01/01/1800 to 12/31/9999. Splitting is not permissible.

Infotypes with time constraint B may be deleted.

T: The time constraint varies depending on the subtype.

Z: Refers to time management infotypes. The time constraint for these infotypes depends on the time constraint class defined in view V_T554S_I Absence: General Control . Collision checks are defined in view V_T554Y Time Constraint Reaction.

Hi,

Steps to create a HR Infotype:

1) Go to Transaction PM01.

2) Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create (Should be a 4 digit number, start with 9).

3) Select the 'Employee Infotype' radio button.

4) Select the 'PS Structure Infotype'.

5) Click on Create... A separate table maintenance window appears...

6) Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the Infotype

7) Save and Activate the PS structure

😎 Go back to the initial screen of PM01.

9) Click on 'All' push button. It takes a few moments.

10) Click on 'Technical Characteristics'. Infotype list screen appears

11) Click on 'Change'(pencil) button

12) Select your Infotype and click on 'Detail' (magnifying glass) button

13) Give 'T591A' as subtype table

14) Give 'T591S' as subtype txt tab

15) Give your subtype field as subtype field

16) Save and come back to PM01 initial screen

17) Click on 'Infotype Characteristics' ... Infotype list screen appears

18) Click on 'Change' (pencil) button

19) Click on 'New Entries'

20) Enter your Infotype number and short text

21) Here we have to set different Infotype Characteristics as per the requirement. (Better open another session with some standard Infotype's infotype characteristics screen and use as the reference to fill yours)

22) Save your entries.

23) Now the Infotype is created and ready to use.

24) If you want to change the layout of the Infotype as per your requirement...

25) In the PM01 initial screen...Select 'Screen' radio button and give 2000 as the screen name, then click on edit.

26) In the next screen.. Select 'Layout Editor' and click 'Change'.

27) Screen default layout appears...here you can design/modify the screen..change the attributes of the fields..etc.

28) Save and activate. (Don't forget to 'Activate at every level)

Subtype Creation :

Transaction PM01 Goto Subtype Characteristics. Click on Append and then subtype. Enter the name and description of subtype on screen.

Then goto technical Characteristics and maintain the details of subtype there. I.e name of subtype i.e. component name defined in PSnnnn. Subtype table is T591A.

Subty.text tab is T591S and time const tab is T591A.

Time constrant-

It means that for one employee

a) only one record is allowed for that infotype

b) or Multiple records are allowed

c) over lapping records are allowed

d) records with gap are allowed.

An Infotype stores data concerning to an employee or an applicant. You use transaction code pa30 to work with them. The value of an infotype is stored in tables paxxxx.
