ABAP and java....... Suggestions needed

Hi All,

Just wanted to know how important is knowing java incase if u wanna continue your profession in ABAP. If yes then where should I strat from as in which all chapters ........... plz let me know where and how can learning java be useful for me.

Hi anu,

Java is very important to learn new technologies in SAP like XI, EP,CRM etc.

For XI, basic java is sufficient and for CRM - ISA and CRM-IPC java struts is mandatory.For EP, servelets knowledge is req.

Hi Anu,

Identifying the need for JAVA , is a good thing to start with. JAVA is very good ammunition in the SAP NETWEAVER Arena.

Start from CORE JAVA. It is more than suffiecient for an abapper.

The areas where Java can be used in SAP is, XI-MAPPING, EP CAF to name a few.

Core Java would cover the basic concepts of java, like inheritance, polymorphism, etc.

go to sun.java.com to get online help for java.

hey thanks for the answer, ABAP is my first programing experience, I know quite a bit about abap objects, all I need to know is what would be used later in ABAP would be concepts of java or knowing exact syntaxes would be needed.

1) OOPS Concepts are same

2) Syntax is entirly differrent. u have to learn that. but it is simple than JAVA

Hey I know ABAP Objects and abap syntaxes but since I have never read java, I wanna know how important is it to know / learn syntaxes of java, when u use java with abap for technologies like XI and others do u use java syntaxes or abap object syntaxes or both............ If java Syntaxes then which all topic am I suppose to prepare to do well in this field.
