2D Barcode DataMatrix on Smartforms

Hi Gurus,

I need to print 2D DataMatrix ECC200 (not PDF417) Barcode on a Smartform. I searched the Forum and the web but found nothing concrete about this issue.

1) Is it possible to print 2D DataMatrix ECC200 Barcodes on Smartforms?

2) If so, does the Client need to buy a special software to do that? (The last link of this post refers to that software).*

Hello,

First point to consider when printing barcode : which type of printer do you use ?

Second : Is it possible to print barcode with this printer ?

Then check the following OSS note :

Note 1097990 - List of Printer Vendor Wizard Notes

and Note 1557674 - Overview of bar code printing from SAP

That's the way I usually do.

Hi Christophe, thanks for your answer.

Ok for the two firsts questions, that is the way I usually do as well. The client is now printing 1D barcodes but now they want 2D Data Matrix ECC200. For SAP to generate this code, do they need to buy a special software? Does SAP (I couldn't find it) include a font for this type of Barcode?

I usually use BarcodeDimm or SIM.

In some case the printer is able to print some barcode with special escape sequence ( to check with the printer manufacturer).

OSS Note Note 1557674 - Overview of bar code printing from SAP is clear.

May be you can give a try to Adobe Form ( if possible )?

Or as you stated a Barcode DLL is a solution ( with the Tec-it product).

Another without is to create an image with the barcode (if you can) and print it in your form.It means create a barcode DLL like process in ABAP ( Could be tricky, especially for 2D barcode).

Thanks for your answers. I will check the OSS Note you gave me with my Basis Consultant (he knows exactly what the Client Printers can do) and see how can we solve this issue.

we used SAP Add-on that generates the barcode DMC.

I then created the corresponding print programs and Smart Forms.
