The Basic Trial offering for SAP Build has been extended with a new workbook called 'Fusion Development with ABAP Cloud in SAP Build'. You can explore this workbook for the Basic Trial offering around SAP Build, that shows how developers can now create new ABAP Cloud projects, or work on existing ones, from the SAP Build lobby and then navigate to their ABAP development environment – the ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse (ADT).

Task 1 : Set up the Basic Trial account and add the ABAP instance in ADT.

Click the following URL:

https://www.sap.com/products/technology-platform/build/trial.html

In the following screen click on "Try Now".

You will receive a user with a password that will allow you to authenticate at the landing page of the basic trial in the respective region for your user, e.g. https://trials.cfapps.eu10-004.hana.ondemand.com/ .

Basic Trial Registration

By using the credentials presented in the web page you will get access to some workbooks that cover different scenarios.

The ABAP related workbook is named Fusion Development with ABAP Cloud in SAP Build.

Select the highlighted workbook.

Choose the Highlighted Workbook

Click ‘Start Workbook’

Start WorkBook

Note : It may take up to 30 minutes to fully activate your user account in the SAP BTP ABAP Environment.

Read the details mentioned in Overview of the Section ‘Set up your development environment’. You can skip Step 1 and 2 if you already have ADT installed but make sure you are on the latest version of ADT for all the features to work fine. Once the installation is done directly move to Step 3 - 'Create ABAP Cloud Project in SAP Build' only until adding the basic trial instance to ADTWe will be it using the URL marked in the below screenshot.

Note:- Once you have the system added in ADT you can close the workbook.

System URL

Task 2 :  Create a package in the new ABAP Cloud Project
Once you see the new ABAP Cloud Project (TDI ) added in ADT, create a package with the naming convention ZAC_<your community ID>.

Note: Please make sure you are using the latest version of ADT, otherwise package creation will not work.

To get the community ID launch the URL : https://community.sap.com/ and click on the person icon as shown in below screenshot and go to ‘My Content’.

Community Page

Once the below page opens up please copy the number after user-id in the URL to get your community ID.

Community ID

Note:- We will be validating your activities by checking the folder against your community ID. So make sure all your development objects are saved inside this package.

Task 3 :  Learn about the SAP Joule for Developers, ABAP AI Capabilities

To prepare for the challenge familiarise yourself with the scope first by going through the following help document.

https://help.sap.com/docs/abap-cloud/abap-development-tools-user-guide/joule-for-developers-abap-ai-...

Now you are ready to take up the challenge. See you next week !!

All these messages "package ZAC_XXXX created" are polluting my Community inbox. Why do people think they have to post a message once it's done? SAP will look at all the packages created, they don't need a message, right? Of course, if people don't apply the instructions correctly (package name to be ZAC_<community ID>), it's their problem.

Hi @sheenamk I am unable to create the package. Just not moving forward from this screen-

Mohit_Kumar991_0-1772629659574.png

Also, I checked for existing objects and package does not exist(did ctrl + shift + A Also checked by expanding ZLOCAL in the ABAP cloud project) in the system. I have tried this in 2 eclipse versions 2025-09 and 2025-06.

@Mohit_Kumar991

I had the same issue before as well. The solution is to install the updates for ADT.

Eclipse -> Help -> Check for Updates

After the updates are installed, the package will be created successfully .

Hi,
I had logon issues after creating my account (even after an ADT Update). After trying it again (after 2 hours) logon was possible + package created!

@sheenamk : I am getting error "Link Handlers cannot be registered as the application is signed" . I am using Mac OS.  How to fix this error or is there any workaround for this as this is a crucial step for Abap build .

@Arif_Ali :

  1. Before creating ABAP project, check if you can login to the ABAP instance that you have in Task 1. The url will be in the workbook and the user credentials is from Task 1 which you would have got in a mail.
  2. Once logged in, proceed with ABAP Cloud project creation in ADT.
  3. Copy the url and open in the window where you have already logged on to ABAP instance. This should get through without any caching issue as you have already logged-in in the same window. If prompted for user, give the same user credentials would have got in the mail.
