Crystal Reports: 1st record of every Duplicate Record

test-data-2023-10-11.pngI’m having a terrible time with some of Crystal's functions.

I’ve enclosed some sample data for you. In table 1, there is the result of a query with some tables joined together and the fields I want in the order I require.

It is in Case ascending and Refno descending order.

My problem is I only want the 1st record of every case in the report (there are thousands of cases!). I’ve indicated them with the green colour in table 1 or you see what I’m aiming for in table 2.

Do you have any ideas? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Cliff

Try this:

1. Group by Case. Sort descending on Refno

2. Put your data in the Case group header.

3. Suppress the Details and Case group footer section.

This will pull all of the data into the report, but will only display the first record for each case.
