First Article Inspection for Production

We have a scenario where the manufacturing team must provide results for first article inspection as it relates to the manufacture of the final assembly. The output of this inspection must be documented in a form called AS9102B.

While we are implementing SAP-Discrete Manufacturing, along with SAP-QM and PEO (Manufacturing for production engineering and operations), we are unable to find a standard SAP solution for recording this inspection and completing the form.

Does SAP have a solution for first article inspection during manufacturing.

Please note: we are NOT discussing QM in Procurement first article - we're already implementing that. We are looking for the production side of first article for the end-item (not the purchased components).

We have a similar requirement and I was unable to find a suitable standard solution. At the end we implemented an exit at inspeciton lot creation. The exit will detect if there are already other inspection lots existing for the same material. If not we set a user status "First" on the inspection lot and this is also visible on the sample lables associated to it.

Hello,

You could use a special production order type and combine that with e.g. Z inspection type for first article inspection.

Within these you can add custom templates or whatever wanted...

He implemented a Z-instance of class CL_EX_INSPECTIONLOT_UPDATE where the custom includes where placed in the CREATE_BEFORE_UPDATE method
