linking inspection requirements to a network activity (ie cords, mords, production orders, pboms)

because i don't know if this functionality exists its difficult to point to a specific area or areas to focus on in sap. as noted below, we are outsourcing certain items out of the company. when they come back in from the supplier, we need our internal quality inspectors to be turned on to inspect the outsourcing vendor's work. what steps are needed to make this happen if again the functionality exists? is it all done in the different order types or is it done in the material views of the part numbers or both?

Sincerely,

Adam Crane

Background/History:

We are having a requirement to see if there's a possibility to create inspection lot at 'Network - Activity' level, or just use the activity level to perform inspection, for activities that were normally "In-house" processing but are now being outsourced. We need sap to kick off a inspection requirement when the parts come back in so that the user can perform, if required, and record the Inspection information against a Network - Activity. Ex - Network Activity: 1) Plate cuttingu2014 Inspect cut edges 2)Welding - Inspect Weld joint 3)Rolled tube - Check Inner diameter

Hi Adam, which SAP topic are you referring to - is it digital manufacturing? You would be better off asking the experts in the Q&A section of our community. Please select your topic under our Products and Technology area. This would be the best approach since I am an SAP Community Advocate and not...

  1. its the networks/orders associated with manufacturing parts in-house. we want to outsource some of those items but when they come back to us to be placed back into the value stream we need sap through the activities in the network/orders to cause someone to perform certain types of inspections before it goes on to the next stage of the build. can you recommend an area to send my concern too? thank you for replying to my message. i have been trying all areas within the sap community for a very long time and you are the 1st person to get back to me; been apart of the sap community for at least 20 years

I'm sorry to hear that nobody got back to you - let me try to find some leads for you, to support. Here are some ideas below:

Where it says "Ask a Question" on the Enterprise Resource Planning Q&A - you could try asking your question there.

There is an Enterprise Architecture group which has a Knowledge Base - you could try joining that group and connecting with members there, like:

Gabor_Kovacs: https://community.sap.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/16435 or

PaulKurchina: https://community.sap.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/5786

Perhaps they can point you in the right direction?

Let me know how you get on,

Thanks,

Katherine
