Whichever way you decide to go, also have in the back of your mind that you want to be able to easily determine the Use Type of your business users, based on the system capabilities assigned to them via the roles assigned to them. As I have maintained a table like the one below which tells me the Use Type of each system capability, I am able to assign a Use Type to each role assigned to a user. In the first scenario (multiple roles to a user) If one role changes or is deleted or added I can quickly see the impact of the change on the Use Type of a user. In the second scenario, it becomes more difficult because I only have one role and anytime I make a change to it I need to re-check all the other catalog assignments to that role!
