With this new release, you can now classify unpackaged and packaged products according to the
Chinese JT/T 617.3 dangerous goods regulation.
Key Features
To support the classification according to JT/T 617.3, a new compliance requirement and a new app are delivered, and an existing app has been enhanced:

Continuous provisioning of Listed Substances through a Regulatory Content Service
Business background
Listed substances (unique CAS numbers) are important in product compliance for several reasons:
- Identification: CAS numbers provide a unique identifier for each chemical substance. This helps to avoid confusion or ambiguity when referring to specific substances. Different substances can have similar or even identical names, but they will have distinct CAS numbers, allowing for accurate identification.
- Regulatory requirements: Many regulations and standards require the identification and tracking of specific substances. For example, certain chemicals may be restricted or banned due to their hazardous properties or environmental impact. By using listed substances, regulators can precisely define which substances are subject to these restrictions.
- International harmonization: CAS numbers are globally recognized and used across different countries and regulatory systems. This facilitates communication and consistency in product compliance efforts, as well as the exchange of information between different stakeholders.
- Supply chain management: CAS numbers are used to track and manage substances throughout the supply chain. Manufacturers, distributors, and retailers can use CAS numbers to ensure that the substances used in their products comply with regulations and standards. This helps to ensure product safety and compliance with legal requirements.
Overall, the use of listed substances in product compliance is essential for accurate identification, regulatory compliance, safety considerations, international harmonization, and effective supply chain management.
Key Features
Loading of regulatory content, like substances, has been streamlined for better performance and use of the regulatory content service. Instead of loading content into tables and updating only related to a specific release or support package, now all customers are able to have substance information delivered continuously. This content is delivered as part of the most current release. All content is available, without this relationship to a specific support package.

Picture 3: Help ensure customers stay up to date with the latest listed substances and listed substance group assignments.
With this 2308 release, we allow customers to continuously consume listed substances and listed substance groups from SAP. We have now
- Delivery of listed substances and listed substance groups using a regulatory content service from SAP
- Consumption of listed substances and listed substance groups into SAP S/4HANA Cloud for product compliance through a service interface
- Automated updates of listed substances and listed substance groups in case of regulatory changes and enhancements
With this change, product compliance shall consume and load listed substances, listed substance groups, and listed substance conditions from the regulatory content service as the preferred source. Only when the regulatory content service isn't configured, listed substances, groups, and conditions are loaded from the MIME repository.
This ensures that all compositions are made up of the most current and accurate substances, which are the foundation of automated compliance checks within the system.

Compliance requirement management to support due diligence acts
Business Background
The "Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz" (LkSG) is a German law that establishes corporate due diligence obligations in supply chains. It requires companies to take responsibility for ensuring that human rights are respected, social and environmental standards are upheld, and risks of violations are minimized throughout their supply chains.
Under the LkSG, companies with a certain size and turnover are required to implement due diligence measures to identify and prevent human rights violations, environmental harm, and other risks within their supply chains. These measures include:
- Risk analysis: Companies must conduct a comprehensive risk analysis to identify potential risks and impacts on human rights, labor rights, and the environment in their supply chains.
- Risk management: Based on the risk analysis, companies are required to develop and implement appropriate risk management strategies to prevent and mitigate identified risks. This may involve establishing policies, procedures, and controls to address specific risks.
- Supplier management: The law emphasizes the importance of supplier management. Companies must ensure that their suppliers also comply with human rights and environmental standards, and they should take steps to address any identified violations.
- Remediation: If a company identifies violations or risks of violations, it is required to take appropriate measures to address them. This may involve engaging with affected stakeholders, providing remedies to affected individuals or communities, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future violations.
- Reporting and transparency: Companies covered by the LkSG are required to publish annual reports on their due diligence measures, including information on their supply chains, risk analysis, risk management, and remediation efforts. This promotes transparency and allows stakeholders to assess a company's compliance with its obligations.
Non-compliance with the LkSG can result in penalties, including fines and exclusion from public procurement processes.
Global Supply Chain Due Diligence Frameworks & Legislations
It's important to note that the LkSG is specific to Germany, but similar laws and regulations exist or are being considered in other countries as well. The aim of these laws is to promote responsible business conduct and ensure that companies are accountable for the impacts of their supply chains.

Picture 4: Global Supply Chain Due Diligence Frameworks & Legislations.
Key Features
This new 2308 release supports you in ensuring compliance with requirements related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and in particular to due diligence acts, such as the German Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz (LkSG), with relevance to purchased products and suppliers. With the
Process Compliance Disclosures - For Suppliers (
F7370) app, you can streamline the collection and consolidation of incoming compliance data for your suppliers based on corporate-wide compliance disclosures.

Picture 5: SAP Fiori app "Process Compliance Disclosures for Suppliers" - Overview of received compliance disclosures.
This feature introduces the Compliance Disclosure compliance pattern to support compliance with supply chain due diligence acts.
As a first step, product stewardship specialists for product compliance can create and activate compliance requirement versions that are based on this new compliance pattern. The master data specialist for product compliance assigns these compliance requirement versions to compliance disclosures in the Process Compliance Disclosures - For Suppliers (
F7370) app to assess the compliance status of each compliance declaration.

Picture 6: SAP Fiori app "Process Compliance Disclosures for Suppliers" - Detail view for one Compliance Disclosure.
For doing so, in addition to the compliance requirement versions that the product stewardship specialist for product compliance can create, the following new compliance requirement versions are delivered as examples:
- US Dodd-Frank Act
- US-CA Transparency in Supply Chain Act
- CH Due Diligence and Reporting Obligations
- NO Transparency Act on Social Sustainability
- NL Child Labour Due Diligence Law
- DE Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz - LkSG
- FR Corporate Duty of Vigilance Law
- GB Modern Slavery Act
To streamline the processing of compliance disclosures, this feature enables you to specify a date of receipt for each compliance disclosure, as well as define the compliance disclosure type, such as a self-assessment, audit results, laboratory results, or information from a third party. You can sort and filter compliance disclosures by these and other values.

Support of Dangerous Goods Marking and Labeling Information for Packaging
Business Background
Labeling, marking, and placarding provide essential information about the nature of the hazardous materials being transported. This information helps ensure that proper precautions are taken during handling, storage, and transportation to minimize the risk of accidents, spills, or other incidents that could harm people, property, or the environment.
For a packer of dangerous goods in a warehouse, it's important to know the labeling and marking information for a product, that is to be transported, to comply with the applicable dangerous goods regulations.
Key Features
With this new 2308 release, you can view dangerous goods marking texts and additional labels that have to be affixed to a package. You can enter a business document number and display all required marking texts and labels for the items that are included in this document.

SAP Fiori app to Validate and Print Labels
With this new 2308 release, you can validate and print labels. Labels can be validated based on the previous label configurations created in the
Manage Label Configurations app and their assignment to a product in the
Manage Label Assignments app. Depending on the business document, you can validate the completeness of relevant labels. Afterward, you can create a print request for a specific label. This assessment can help you make sure that the labels are properly set up prior to the printing process.

Picture 7: Improve labeling for general scenarios and link data from SAP software with solutions created by partners.
This app provides the ability to:
- Search among products as part of different business processes (for example, manufacturing, delivery, and sales)
- Determine needed labels for a product and a business process
- Send a print request to the external output system for the actual label printing

Ability to Search for Unpackaged Products based on Assigned Packaged Products
Business Background
As a product stewardship specialist, you can use the
Manage Basic Compliance Data - Unpackaged Products app (App ID
F2641) to create compliance views of unpackaged products based on your R&D data. Once you’ve provided the compliance data for an unpackaged product, such as compositions and market requirements, you can use this compliance view consistently in multiple business processes, such as responding to compliance requests. By creating such compliance views of unpackaged products, you enable regulation experts to continue with their work to assess the marketability, safety data sheet status, and dangerous goods status of unpackaged products. If there are identical products in the system, you can reuse the compliance view.
Key Features
With this new 2308 release, you can search for unpackaged products by using the assigned packaged products.

Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Number on Korean SDSs
Business Background
If a safety data sheet is sent to South Korea, an SDS number must be printed in the header of the safety data sheet. This SDS number is assigned when the safety data sheet is submitted to the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MoEL).
The Korean SDS Number consists of the following two parts:
- A product-specific part, also called SDS Number (Product Part)
- A business-place-specific part, also called SDS Number (Company Part)
Key Features
The company-specific part is entered in the
Manage Legal Entities app. The product-specific part is entered in the new
Manage Korean SDS Number (App ID
F7414) app as part of the compliance assessment for an unpackaged product.
You can then create the legally required safety data sheet number for South Korea which consists of a product part and a company part. These two parts are combined together and printed on the safety data sheet during the final generation of the South Korean safety data sheet.
