SAP IDES Sgen not working

I just did a fresh installation of SAP IDES Ehp 6 for ERP 6.0.

The installation was sucessful but when I am trying to run SGEN i suspect it is not running as even after 5 ++ hrs there is no change to the job details.

I am trying to run but unable to run. Not sure what is wrong. How do I go about debugging it?

OR

are other process tajubg up the space?

Here is the screen shot from SM50

Its number 2 and inside the job details these are present.

Hello

There is nothing wrong.

What I can see from the screen shots provided that the load generation is still under execution.

You need to wait until the job finishes or gets cancelled.

Hi,

Can you please post the screen shot of st02 and st06.

Change the below parameters.

rdisp/wp_no_dia                             8

rdisp/wp_no_btc                             5

rdisp/rfc_max_own_used_wp ensure it is 75 or higher

Check that Rz12 that parallel_generators is configured properly.

What is the value of the below parameters in your system.

abap/buffersize

Thanks

Hi Rishi,

Here are the screenshots

St02

I am not able to change rsdisp/wp_no_btc and sdisp/wp_no_dia

And Benjamin the status was finished earlier but still some objects were left out so i restarted the job, this is the screenshot now.

Wat is the issue?

Hi.

First the ID3 is not correct as this system is DEP.

So go in rz12 and click on the last line for the parallel generator.Double click.

then change instance to DEP system. Once it turns greeen please save it.

The go in Rz10 and change the below two parameters as mentioned earlier.

rdisp/wp_no_dia                             8

rdisp/wp_no_btc                             5

Restart and then go for sgen and this time it should run as it think the parallel generator would be the issue.

Thanks

Hi Rishi,

Now its sucessful! All the objects were processed!

But what was the reason for the parallel_generator to be set to ID3?

And what is ID3? I did not install it.

P.S
Thanks for all the help guys! Hopefully this post will be useful to someone in the future.

Also I am seeing lot of errors in my SYS log but I opened another thread for that

Hi,

Was this system system copied?

IF it is ides then i can be that sap would have got it copied from there ID3 system and that the reason Post system copy step was not done when this IDES was bundled.

Sgen used the parallel_generator to generate the load and as it was not configured properly it was failing.

Thanks

No this system wasn't copied it was brand new IDES installation.

I think I will reinstall the whole system again. And see where is this coming from.

Hi Benjamin,

Goodnews! perhaps restarting helped I guess.

But now the job is active here are the pics

But how do I know how much percentage has completed ?

Please let me know tks

Hi,

Why the job started as there were no backgroung process free. Once you restarted the old job got cancelled and so you has three new  background process to run the backgroung job.

Now if you want to check the status you can go back in sgen and see how many object left.

Thanks

Hi,

Is the sgen job still running.?

How many object do you see in sgen transaction that are still remaining if the job is running as per the last screen shot of SM37.

The dump that you are taking about is timeout because of the parameter this rdisp/max_wprun_time which is set in your system.

As sgen job is using background process so this parameter will not be applicable for that background process . But as sgen uses some dialog process to generate the object and if that dialog process is not able to do the work required in the time set by this parameter then i can think that the error can come.

Can you please pass the screen shot of sm50.

Thanks

I still see 70, here is the screenshot of the job monitor

So should I change the timeout value?

Click on the job monitor icon to know the progress.

During parallel load generation SGEN uses dialog work processes.

The SGEN generation set is set to 70 objects.

1588826 - Limiting the SGEN generation set to 70 objects

You can temporarily increase the run time of the work processes until the SGEN completes but I would change it only if the SGEN is failing.

Hey Rishi,

Why don't you start the statistics collection of the database and then trigger SGEN ?

Wat is wrong!

Hi,

If i see sm50 there are three background process in your system and all are occupied.

So try to configure more background process or use operation mode to get more background process.

There would be job in Sm37 with name RSPARAGENER8  and the delay would be increasing as there are not free background process for the job to run.

Thanks

Also I am open to allowing u to access my server to solve the problem thru teamviewver, I have no problem with that.

Dear jack ,
for unenviable database Statistics , just schedule the following standard background  job

SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_JOBSTATISTIC          ==> Collector values for Statistics
SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR        ==> performance collector

Via SM36 T-code ==> slandered Jobs

Hello

Make sure there is enough space in the tablespace at the DB level.

Check the status of the background job in SAP.

Dear Buddy,

After done the installation, you need increase the table space size. Then you can start and it will work.

Check the transaction sm21, st22  and give the error, abap dump screen shot here.

Thank you
