Regulatory Content update for Component Extension EHSM and S/4 EHS

Hello,

customers tends to use the Component Extension for EHSM or S/4 EHS when they are not creating a Safety data sheets, but rather needs a solution to manage chemicals for risk assessment or just want to create a hazardous substance inventory.

In those cases, does SAP or a third party provider deliver regulatory content updates for updating H & P statements or chemical regulatory lists (for example the SVHC-List)?

For S4 product compliance (SDS-Management, Dangerous goods) verisk 3e delivers new contents every year.

But for the Component Extension for EHSM and S/4 EHS, the situation is not clear to us.

Thank you in advance

Dear Hoang,

the regulatory content for hazardous substances is a topic which is asked for quite often by customers who implement the EHS Health and Safety Management. I would like to highlight that my answer only represents my personal opinion.

Component Extension for SAP EHS Management (EHSM), version 6.0

Substances from the EH&S specification database can be transferred to EHSM Chemicals. You can find this report and some BAdIs to adjust the logic in the report in the IMG Structure:

SAP EHS Management -> Risk Assessment -> Master Data Configuration -> Chemicals -> Data Transfer from EHS Specification Database

EHS in S/4HANA (looking at version S4CORE 107, released in 2022)

Again, substances from the EH&S specification database can be transferred to EHS Chemicals. You can find this report and some BAdIs to adjust the logic in the report in the IMG Structure:

Environment, Health and Safety -> Health and Safety Management -> Master Data Configuration -> Chemicals -> Data Transfer from EHS Specification Database

Now, regarding the content provider question. As you already know, the content providers deliver their content into the Product Compliance / Product Safety and Stewardship module. The focal point of this solution is the EH&S Specification Database (transaction code: CG02). Based on the information stored in the Specification Database, the chemical data is created.

On a project basis, some customers built a separate update mechanism for the EHS chemicals. This might be another option.

With kind regards,

Michael

Dear Hoang,

please note that there is one part of chemical content data which is available in EHS Health and Safety Management by default without connecting to the Specification Database, and that's the Occupational Exposure Limits (OEL). They are available in the standard delivery (in form of Compliance Requirements) without any data transfer effort (starting with S/4HANA 1709).

In workplace safety / risk assessment processes the OELs are used here:
* View chemical safety information
* Check workplace limits in Workplace Sampling
