How can we copy material links to new versions of DIRs when working with SAP ECTR?

When we create new versions from ECTR the material links are not copied over to the newer version.

So is there a way to have the materials copied to the new versions? I see that the dtype.xml file contains a setting in the <copy_as> section - 'copy_material'. But no such setting exists for <new_version>.

I know we can manually create material links by drag-drop or by using the assign material function. But i'm looking for a setting that will help me do it automatically for version generation.

Have you tried this process in transaction CV01N as well? Because from DMS point of view you can customize this in transaction DC10 for the document type and object at "Define Object types". Here in the object type details you will find the field "When New Version". If you set the value '1' here the links should be copied automatically in DMS.
