Introduction
The article Operational Risk Management in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2308 introduced the new app Manage Risk Assessments in S/4HANA Cloud.
This article here describes the enhancements of the above app in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2402 which allow to perform an assessment of risks related to chemicals at the workplace.
Assessment of Chemical-Related Risks
The assessment of chemical risks follows the same process like the assessment of non-chemical risks:
- Identify and create the risk.
- Define the safety impacts of the new risk.
- Assess the risk by defining a risk level along a risk matrix.
- Assign controls to mitigate the risk.
There are some additional features, though, which come with the chemical as new risk agent:
- The risk has a reference to a chemical, which actually causes the relevant hazard.
Examples for hazards: Inhalation, Explosion - The information method of use defines the way how the chemical is used or handled at the workplace.
The word "chemical" here is used in a way how it is used in everyday language and also in regulations. It does not mean the SAP Business Object Chemical here.
The chemical in a chemical risk is technically represented by the compliance view, an object sitting on top of the SAP product (formerly known as material) representing compliance and chemical attributes of the product. This object is shared between SAP Environment, Health, and Safety and SAP Product Compliance. so that every piece of information entered in any process is also available for all other processes working with this object. References to relevant information can be found in the summary chapter.
