Warehouse Managers responsible for receiving goods usually want insights on the number of received items. It shows the workload in the receiving section of the warehouse in the current or elapsed periods.

The KPI ‘Number of Received Items’ counts all items in the selected period.

With a Click on the KPI value, you get more details showing the target and its alert range as well as details related to the ship-to location and delivery type.

The user might wonder how the current number of received items relate to the past performance – compared to the target value that refers here to the last month value or compared to the reference of the last year’s average per month.

The target relates to the time range from the first day of last month to today's date in the last month. For example, if today's date is December 15, then the date range is November 01 to November 15.

The range of the alert values is a percentage to the target value to help you to get aware of underachievement and over-achievement.

From the KPI you can analyze further on details and exceptions (Button Analyze Data) through drilling down, for example, to identify which product categories contributed most to number of received items. Along with this you also see the delivered quantity.

Set up of the KPI ‘Number of received items’:

The KPI is based on a newly created report ‘Number of Received Items and Quantities‘ which is based on the data source Inbound Delivery Details [SCMIDNB01] with its key figure counter that sums up all the received items. You create the new report in the Design Reports view in the “Business Analytics” work center. There you also define your selections and views. The selection comprises the date selection and excludes the cancelled items.

In the same work center under the Design KPI’s view, you can also create and change KPIs. In the following can you see the settings for the Number of received items KPI:

a.) General Tab: Here you use the views and selections from the newly created report such as the selection for the current month to today's date.

b.) Values and Thresholds:

Here we used relative values for target and reference values: the target value is set to the last month's values of the same slot as explained above (Last month - month to date).

The reference value is set to last year's average.

For alerting: the threshold is set to -/+ 10 % for a warning or beyond -/+ 50 % for alerting. The respective settings in the KPI would be (1) Alert Point 50 (2) Warning Point 90 (3) Warning Point 110 (4) Alert Point 150. Since this is an example based on our sample data in the system, you should adapt the values to your business needs.

c.) Additional Contexts: These are additional report views you want to display in the KPI.

d) Filter: If you want to use KPI Filters to create KPI variants, the Ship-to Location might be an option.
