Hello Experts,
I was copying one 3.x Info-package .
At the time of coping it, one dialog box is appearing asking new Info-package name and variant.
screen shot is attached.capture.png
what is the significance of variant in Info-package ??
Thanks,
Ipsita
Hi Ipsita,
Basically when you create a Variant for a program (or in this case, for an InfoPackage) you store default values for some/all the fields in your selection screen. This way, after your variant is saved, you can execute your program without having to type (every single time) the values you frequently use, so if you have previously saved a variant, you just select it, and the stored values are retrieved.
Please note that you can create more than one variant to apply different selection criteria on each execution of your program.

Hello Francisco,
Thanks for your reply.
I have a question when I am manually creating an Info-package it is not asking for any variant but when I am creating an Info-package by copying a old info-package ,it is asking me for a variant (screenshot is attached in the main question).
why it is acting like this??
In the link which you had given ,there is written every info-package is assigned to a variant. But if I create Info-package manually it is not asking me for any variant??
Thanks,
Ipsita
"...But if I create Info-package manually it is not asking me for any variant?"
Hi Ipsita,
The Variant "CUSTOMER" is created (under the hood) when you manually create an Info-Package. To confirm this you can display a list of all the InfoPackages and their variants, this information is stored in the Table RSLDPIO.
Kind regards,
Francisco.
