2780510 - SAP HANA 2.0 SPS 03 Database Maintenance Revision 037.01Hi Irfan,

Upgrading to the next revision (36 > 37) is usually not a big change. Latest patch release is 037.06 from May 2020. Always check the notes

Hi Irfan,

Correct. As documented

The system database controls the SAP HANA system

Posted a blog about all of your options some time ago you might still find of interest

The software upgrade concerns the SAP HANA system (system database plus all tenant databases) and the upgrade tool (HDBLCM) will stop and start the system as required. There is no need to stop the tenant databases first (unless the notes indicate otherwise). However, if this concerns a production system, downtime should be anticipated. System replication offers near-zero downtime upgrades, if downtime is a concern.

For a quick dry-run, you can download an older version of the express edition and add some tenants and upgrade to a later revision. This will give you an idea of the overall process. Of course, for production systems, this requires a bit more preparation.
