Since SAP Cloud ALM  was released to customers, back in July 2020, it was only possible to get one SAP Cloud ALM tenant per eligible customer number.

Lots of customers have requested to get multiple tenants for the same customer number, for various reasons:

  • Multiple productive tenants:
    • To provide SAP Cloud ALM to different organizational units in large enterprises.
    • To separate implementation and operations.
  • Adding a development or test tenant to the existing productive tenant
    • To build and test extensions.
  • To separate systems from different landscapes:
    • For systems containing sensitive information.
  • To have training or playground environments.
  • And much more.

I am glad to announce that SAP has been working on this. We will release soon a new product on the SAP price list called SAP Cloud ALM, tenant extension so that customers will be able to subscribe to additional tenants for SAP Cloud ALM.

I will refer from here on to the standard SAP Cloud ALM tenant as the tenant which is granted to the customers as part of Enterprise Support, cloud editions, in SAP Enterprise Support and in Product Support for Large Enterprises (full details can be found here: usage rights).

Here is a summary of what you will get per extension subscribed:

  • The entitlement to a fully productive SAP Cloud ALM tenant.
  • From a functional and technical point of view, this tenant is identical to the standard SAP Cloud ALM tenant.
  • A baseline of 8 GB SAP HANA Memory.
  • A baseline of 8 GB monthly outbound API data transfer.
  • The possibility to provision a Tricentis test automation tenant integrated with your extra tenant.

The usage rights are similar to the ones from the standard SAP Cloud ALM tenant, except for first bullet point of the usage rights (the one about the support agreements).

There is no restriction on the number of tenants which you can subscribe to. You can get as many as needed for your organization and purposes.

Once the SAP Cloud ALM, tenant extension has been purchased, you will be able to provision your extra tenant(s) from SAP for Me just like the standard SAP Cloud ALM tenant, and the process will be fully automated as well.

Lab Preview - Might not reflect final state of the product.

The SAP Cloud ALM, tenant extension has been announced in the SAP roadmap. It is currently planned for Q3 2024 (This is the current state of the planning and it can be changed by SAP at any time), therefore it is coming very soon.

Stay tuned for more information.
