ECTR backend installation requires PLMWUI

Hello,

we are doing the upgrade from ECTR 5.1 to 5.2. Having EHP7, we try to install ECTR backend 515.

The installation does not work because PLMWUI is missing. However, we do not use PLM Web User Interface and have no plans to do so.

Note 2049249 says a certain SP level is required for PLMWUI - but can't we use ECTR without PLMWUI anymore?

What do you recommend? Can we just install PLMWUI and not use it or does that have any license implications?

Hello Wolfgang,

you must install PLMWUI for ECTR 515 in your system. There are a couple of dependencies on a ABAP code level which enforce this.

However, the installation of the PLMWUI addon is free, no license required.

As documented in note 2049249 the software component PLMWUI is a prerequisite for ECTR 515 (Frontend SAP ECTR 5.2). You can't use the backend component ECTR 515 without PLMWUI installed on backend system.

As far as I know, no license costs are caused by the installation of this PLMWUI component.
