Hi Everyone,

I am back again to remind you to mark your calendars on March 23, 2021 as the release date of the powerful calculation engine, SAP Profitability and Performance Management 3.0 Support Package (SP13)

Also, if you are interested to know about the exciting enhancements, features and contents included in SP13, read through up to the end as I will give you an overview of what you can expect to be included in the package starting with......

Flow Modeling Performance Improvement

Flow Modeling is one of the major functions being used in Estimated CashFlow Preparation. In SP13, additional performance improvement is to be released that willl help modeled environments in calculating and providing results faster for large amount of data after reactivation.

Visual Modeler

Visual Modeler can still be identified into at least four (4) main screens

    • Environment Screen (Read-Only)

    • Modeling Screen (Read-Only)

    • Process Management Screen (Read-Only)

    • Visualize/Report Management Screen (Editable)

The enhacenements for Visual Modeler were already released for you through notes. So if you are in a lower version of SAP Profitability and Performance Management and still wish to use the said enhancements you may implement below notes:

To know more about these Visual Modeler features and enhancements please visit my teammates blog posts where they clearly explained the features and enhancements

Remote Function Adapter

To the financial experts that are taking advantage of the Remote Function Adapter's posting capability, I am happy to inform you that there are two new types to be expected in SP13

    • Purchase Order

For integration scenarios with SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA, this new RFA type allows you to create a purchase order in Materials Management from SAP Profitability and Performance Management. To those who are techical, this RFA type is using BAPI BAPI_PO_CREATE1.

    • Secondary Cost Elements Posting

For integration scenarios with SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA, this new RFA type allows you to post manual cost allocation with secondary cost elements posting in Controlling from SAP Profitability and Performance Management. To those who are technical, this RFA type is using BAPI BAPI_ACC_MANUAL_ALLOC_POST.

Query

You want to consume SAP Profitability and Performance Management Query data using OData Service? Now it is possible with Support Package 13!

A new option for the Query function that allows OData service exposure is set in generated objects (BEX Query or CDS view). Please take note that the OData service itself is not created and has to be established manually for the query source “Environment” and for query source “Environment CDS”.
To know more about this new integration capability visit SAP Note 3020709.

Connection Management *NEW*

"Connection Management" is now available in SP13!

Through ABAP transaction code /NXI/P1_CONM (hint use /n/NXI/P1_CONM), it is now possible to maintain connections to external systems. This functionality allows logical mapping of external objects to be used for modeling in SAP Profitability and Performance Management.

Since connections are not environment-specific, functions across different environments can reuse the created connection.

Let me go a bit deeper to show you how to use the created connection.

The created connection can be used in SAP Profitability and Performance Management's information functions such as Model Table, Model View, Model BW, Model RDL via Connection Type: Logical. Below is an example of a Model Table in SP13.

Since this logical connection is new to SP13, how about the models you created earlier?

Optionally you can migrate previous model functions from physical to logical models via report /NXI/P1_MIG_MODEL_PHY_TO_LOG.

Sample Content

Lastly, let us move to sample contents. There is one new content to be expected in SP13

Sample Content Process Mining on SAP S/4HANA – Utilities Management

This sample content provides an end-to-end process mining model for the utilities management process. It focuses on the meter reading process conducted by the utility provider, and the analysis of billings, collected and outstanding. Input data comes from standard SAP tables and several other non-ERP tables. The model calculates standard and industry-specific key performance indicators for an evaluation of an overall utility providing process. It also includes a qualitative reporting template for the visual analysis of data model results using a variety of charts and descriptive texts to create reports for different stakeholders. Organizational goals can be kept in line through the process diagram, which offers a better understanding of the process performance.
