SAP best practices approach - forecast on HALB level, stock on FERT level. How to handle?

Dear,

Which SAP standard approach (planning strategy settings etc.) would you use to serve below case?

Two levels of production: FERT and HALB.

FERT materials differentiate only by packaging method, for example 15 FERT materials have 1 HALB material as main input. Forecast is imported on HALB level (less forecast accuracy error), customer orders are on FERT level. FERT materials are produced on stock on the basis of Planner best knowledge.

We considered using planning strategy 70, but in that case system is not balancing forecast on HALB level with stock on FERT level. What would be your approach to achieve this?

Hello bmazur

Have a look at Stockkeeping at Different BOM Levels. Your requirement sounds like "Stocking Level One Level Below the Finished Product" scenario:

Hello 3a9e4ce873a94034b33dc62b0ce600ee

Thanks for your quick answer.

We considered planning strategies without final assembly (5*, 6*), but please notice that in our example FERT material is produced on stock, not when sales order comes. Sounds like MTS approach, but in fact Planner is deciding how to pack HALB (relation 1HALB : many FERTs).

It looks like some contradiction that you want to have forecast on lower level (due to better forecast accurcy) and you expect that system would balance this forecast with FERT stock.
