Where do i get the details of all the Business Partner Roles setup in in Standard S/4 (that covers all the applications from Sales/purchase/inventory/transportaion/retail networks/oil and gas customer/suppliers etc....), and their characteristics ?

You can make use of SSCUI 103008 which provides the list of BP roles available along with their description.
