What is the maximum decimal places allowed in group reporting for Amount and Quantity ?

You can check it in backend table SE11 if you know the data element of these field.

For quantity , decimal place is 8

For LC/GC/TC amount, decimal place is 2

Can we customize it to have more decimal places for LC/GC/TC amounts ?

and also to add for broader audience maximum decimal allowed for currency exchange rates is 5

For quantity, it is 8 decimals.

For amount, it depends. There is a general currency setting in S/4HANA which defines the number of decimals (if different from the default which is 2). (The database stores an internal format. When converting input / output the currency setting is taken into account.)

Maximum number I don't know. I am not aware of a restriction for existing currency codes. In public and private cloud, the currencies are pre-delivered with the correct settings. In private cloud you can define the number of decimals in the corresponding IMG activity (OY04).
