Fixed Asset Migration Template. Which sheets to fill for migration in January and how to test?

I just wanted to make shure that we will not have a problem with the migration of fixed assets.

Our approach:

- Migrate Fixed Assets Masterdata (as soon as possible)

- Migrate Postings

My questions:

1. As we want to go live in January, we just fill out "Posting Key" and "Cumulative Values" in the sheet for migrating fixed assets posting from the migration workbench?

2. When can we upload the Fixed Assets Postings XML? Is it possible to upload it earlier than January to see if everything is correct?

3. We also want to migrate all postings from the ledgers. Of course we have postings from fixed assets in it. Do we get into problems here?

You are right, the attention should be paid for 'legacy data transfer in Asset Accounting. Learning from various projects, we always recommend to go through every points mentioned in this document as well as the sub document under before you start the execution.

Then, It is very important to note, An incorrect legacy data transfer cannot simply be reset.

You should therefore plan enough time for the legacy data transfer in advance and prepare for it properly. Before you transfer the legacy data to the production system, you should have run a complete and correct test, reconciled with the legacy system, in the test system.

To save some of your time and highlight the relevant documents for your reference.

1. So you want to Transfer at End of Fiscal Year. In this approach, you do not need to include any depreciation or transactions posted during the year in the transfer of legacy data. Transfer only master data and the asset values (this means the APC and the accumulated depreciation) with the status at the end of the last closed fiscal year.

check the migration object 'Fixed asset - Postings' about the supported features, restrictions, Prerequisites, Mapping Instructions.Required Configuration Settings,Required Activities,Pretest,Tasks,Post-Processing

2. Yes. you could upload via XML template with the SAP-S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. but there are a few constrains.

- No assets under construction that are linked to investment measures

- No investment support

- No external number assignment

Via S/4HANA Migation cockpit, you have options to similate the change .for more process about the transfer in automatic way, check this document for the whole step by step process https://help.sap.com/viewer/3e5fcf2c768746049b5627bd5a42f720/2011.500/en-US/178b8c335df24f78af65b96d... You could also check the best practice scope item https://rapid.sap.com/bp/scopeitems/BH5

3. If Legacy Data Transfer is defined in General Ledger, the Legacy Data Transfer Date in Asset Accounting cannot be set as an earlier date
