Intro

Let us have a brief about the SOP. Reference Blog

Demands in MD61 are considered while running MRP. Then why we need to maintain demands in SOP or RCP?

SOP or RCP are similar and it is just a excel sheet in SAP where the sales and production team will give there demands and capacity respectively. Later these demand will be consolidated and transferred from SOP (excel table) to MD61 table in proportional manner.

So this is just an alternate method of filling the PIR in SAP. But instead of directly maintaining the demand in MD61, we are using SOP sheet as preliminary requirement report to collect the data and then transfer it to actual demand.

In PIR screen you might have seen these options to fill the demands. These options are used to copy the requirements from SOP or RCP

1. Forecasting - Demand which you generated in MP30 - Not an SOP

2. Sales plan & Production plan - (Standard SOP for Material) - MC95

3. Sales plan proportional PG & Production plan proport PG - (Standard SOP for product group) - MC94

4. Copy flexible planning - (Flexible planning) - MC95

Difference between the SOP types

Standard SOP for Material -  (Demands will be given at Material and Plant level and then copied to MD61)
Standard SOP for Product Group - (Demands will be given at Material and Product group and then copied)
Flexible Planning - (You can define your own characters to maintain the demand and then copied to MD61)

You can use the proper steps to follow each process. But here I am comparing the different SOP demands that can be copied to MD61 screen.

A) Forecast - Link
  1. Maintain consumption values (MM02)
  2. Execute Forecast ( MP30)

MD61 screen

You can see both the values from MP30 and MD61 screen are same. you can select the demand and transfer it to PIR

B) Standard SOP for Material - Characteristics are Material, Plant and key figures are Sales, Production Quantity, Target stock, etc.
1) Create Planning for material MC87
2) Copy to Active Version MC78
3) Transfer to Demand Management MC74

MD95 screen. Here you can see the characters are material and plant. i.e. input parameters.

Here you can see these values are from the key figures production are same as MD95.

B) Standard SOP for Product Group - Characteristics are material and product group.

1) Create Product Group MC84
2) Create Plan for Product Group MC81
3) Disaggregate Product Group Plan MC76
4) Copy to active version MC78
5) Transfer to Demand Management MC75 for PG

C) Flexible Planning - Custom characteristics and Key figures.

1) Create Info structure - MC21
2) Maintain Planning Parameters - MC7F
3) Creation of Planning Hierarchy - MC61
4) Creation planning type and Macros - MC8A
5) Calculate Proportional Factors - MC9B
6) Planning in the planning table - MC93
7) Copy planning version - MC8V
😎 Transfer planning data to demand management - MC90
MC95

Here we can only transfer the data directly from MC95 to MD61.

Transfer to DM from change mode of Flexible Planning with active version MC94

Conclusion:

I hope you got some idea on SOP and RCP. Also have a look on to link
