Work Clearance Management (WCM) solution consists of required tools and processes that help in overseeing and ensuring safety at a work location. WCM can be used to monitor the safety measures and ensure safe working conditions for the workers at work sites.

The WCM solutions can be accessed with the Permit to Work application in SAP FIORI launchpad.

The Permit to Work Fiori apps offer an enhanced and simplified work permit management solution that provides a systematic approach to identify and control the risks in hazardous areas and ensure a safe working environment for the employees who are involved.

A Work Permit is a formal printed document with a description of the work, the requirements to be fulfilled and the safety measures to be taken. Work Permit authorizes the worker to carry out the specific work at a specific time. This is like an agreement between the issuer and the receiver about the conditions, risks, and precautions involved.

Using Permit Work solution in WCM users can create, process, and monitor work permits.

Permit to Work helps to streamline the work permit management process with the following Fiori applications:

Create Work Permit Request: You can use this app to create a new work permit with reference to an existing maintenance order, a predefined work permit template, or independently.

Manage Work Permits: You can use this app to create new permits or manage the existing work permits that are active, non-active, or closed in the system.

Manage Work Permit Templates: You can use this app to create new work permit templates or manage the existing templates.

This article will show steps to create a work permit with an existing work order using the Create Work Permit Request Fiori app.

  • Click on the Create Work Permit Request tile. Enter Planning Plant, Work Permit Type, and Reference Maintenance Order number and press the Continue button.

  • Under the General Information tab most of the fields will be pre-populated from the Maintenance Order. Update the information if needed.

  • Update the Nature of Work by checking applicable check boxes.

  • Add additional Technical Objects like Equipment and Functional Locations under the Object List tab.

  • Add Safety Requirements to be implemented before carrying out the maintenance work and required Personal Protective Equipments under the Safety Requirements tab.

  • Add additional Maintenance Orders under the Assigned Orders tab if required.

  • Update Person Responsible under the Partner tab.

  • Approvals will be pre-determined automatically under the Approvals tab. If needed user can add additional approvers if required.

  • Click on the Create button at the bottom to create the Work Permit.

Result: Work Permit will be created.
