SAP Commerce Cloud and Solr Upgrade

Hi Team,

I’ve noticed a warning in the SAP Commerce Cloud Portal that says: "To minimize the impact on your operations, update your Commerce solution to the latest available version. For more information, see the Supported Releases page and Update Releases page. To ensure compatibility with the composable storefront libraries, see the Composable Storefront Compatibility Matrix page.".

Our current SAP Commerce Cloud version is 2211.20, and we're using Solr 8.x. We came across an article on SAP Help that mentions that the 2211.20 version will be valid until September 10, 2024.

We have a few questions:

1. If we don't upgrade Solr and SAP Commerce Cloud patch version to 2211.27, will it affect our build and deploy process?
2. How much time do we have to complete these upgrades?

Hello there!

Indeed the SAP Commerce Cloud 2211.20 will be available only until the date you mentioned as per Update Releases - Update Releases Timeline. After that date all builds created with this version will fail with the exception described in the KBA 3242156 - Build not possible for EOMM versions of SAP Commerce Cloud, but deployments with already created builds will still be available. You can find this and more information also in Using an EOMM Version. 

Regarding the Solr 8.x version, it will still be compatible until the patch 25 of SAP Commerce Cloud 2211, but we keep the suggestion of always upgrading to the latest release available, which today is the patch 27. This means that you will need to also upgrade your Solr version to 9.x as it is the only compatible version with SAP Commerce Cloud 2211.27.

You have until the date of End Of Mainstream Maintenance (for the 2211.20 version is September 10, 2024) to upgrade to a higher version. If you wish, you can upgrade to SAP Commerce Cloud 2211.25 so you have time to prepare the Solr upgrade to 9.x as it is also compatible with the 8.x, but don't forget its EOMM date: January 21, 2025!
