The SAP LEAD training program offers Enterprise Architects the opportunity to become a Value Architect, Process Architect or even a Lead Enterprise Architect. The SAP LEAD program is aimed to further integrate business architecture and IT architecture into a coherent Enterprise Architecture.

For details see white paper: http://www.sap.com/netherlands/services/education/brochures_whitepapers/pdfs/SAP_Education_LEAD-Prog...)

The LEAD program applies the TOGAF 9.0 continuous improvement approach to link pain points, strategic business objectives and critical success factors to the TOGAF 9.0 Meta Model.

TOGAF 9.0

TOGAF 9.0 contains the ACF (Architectural Content Framework) in which the TOGAF methodology is converted into the required artifacts, views (models) and guidelines for architectural development and the BPM / EA tooling.

The TOGAF ACF framework

SAP LEAD Case Study

A Case Study is an important part of the LEAD Program. Two or more architects from an organization will have the opportunity to use their own data and Enterprise Architecture to work on a personalized case study for their company and thereby covering major parts of their own Business Process, Application, Data or Technology Architecture.

To capture Enterprise Architecture from the organization, an EA tool is required which can support for the ACF framework of TOGAF. SAP Enterprise modeling by IDS Scheer contains a free of charge TOGAF reference database which can be used by the Enterprise Architects for the Case Study.

The TOGAF reference database

The reference database can be used by the students not only to capture the Enterprise Architecture but also record the relevant TOGAF artifacts using e.g. Archimate and create reports like the EA factsheet.

EA expert session by IDS Scheer

As part of the LEAD Program, Frank Luyckx and Gerard van Gent from IDS Scheer have conducted an Expert Session on the advantages of integrated tooling for Enterprise Architecture Management.

The EA tool should support the LEAD students during the Enterprise Architecture cycle when developing the case study:

The Enterprise Architecture live cycle

During this cycle the extent of relevant methods can go beyond a typical EA modeling language as ArchiMate (Archimate is an Open Group Technical standard) when aiming for sustainable results (list is not complete):

Strategy

BSC (balanced score cards), Business Segment matrix, Six Sigma

Design

Corporate Process Models (EPC, BPMN (functional)), OrgCharts, eERM, Business Control Diagram

Implementation

Business Rule Diagram, UML, BPMN (technical), BPEL

Controlling

Process Performance Management, EA Risks analysis

The actual use of the EA tool within the LEAD Program is the responsibility of the students. It may be clear however, that a EA tool that supports them throughout all stages of the life cycle and that also integrates methods from different domains will help them to get the most out of the LEAD program.

The Enterprise SAP BPM framework

During the EA expert session the Enterprise SAP BPM framework (described in the previous blog: Part 10: Enterprise BPM framework; The maturity of the SAP BPM framework can be improved !) was discussed, which can help the LEAD students to determine the additional SAP BPM toolling to create a SAP BPM roadmap which can create value for their organization.
