Hi,
I have installed a windows application instance for my ECC 6.0 iSeries Central instnace. I have installed the latest kernel patches, however, I can not start the Windows application instance, because it can not connect to the Central Instance.
Has anybody have installed a Windows application instance for the Iseries?
Do you have documentation that you can share about this installation?
I don't have much windows experience, therefore, I don't know if there is something in the windows server that I am missing.
Thank you,
Judith
Thank you so much for all your help. I am running Win 32.
I have installed Client Access V5R3 and the lastest service pack in the Windows Server, but I don't have the lastest PTFs in the iSeries.
It did not work, and due to the fact that l still have V5R3 and I was going to upgrade soon, I will upgrade to V5R4 asap, so I have the latest version and service pack in both servers.
I let you know if after installing v5R4 I have better luck.
Thank you,
Judith

Hi Judy
Please installl iSeries access for Windows on the Windows Application server and then try starting the instance again.
It will solve a lot of your problems...
Once you have done installing iSeries access for Windows...and
Then if it does not start.....
Then try update the latest QXDAEDRS.DLL...as volker/kausahl suggested....from
www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/access/xda/download.htm
Let us know how it went...
Thanks
Abhi

Hi,
which way you apply kernel patch on application server for iseries?
use following method to apply kernel patch on application server for iseries.
stop application server.
download the kernel sapexe.sar and saexedb.sar application server on windows for iseries.
extract both file in one folder. i.e kernel
also download patch for IGS i.e igs.sar
and extract it in same folder. i.e kernel
now
backup NTI386 folder on iSeries host.
\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386
now copy the content of extracted kernel from folder kernel to NTI386 folder.
now start the application server host.
consider following to install application server for iseries on windows server.
if you use a 64 bit windows server, please have look to Note 734428:
This Application Server (64 bit) is available for EM64T/AMD64 technologies and NOT for Itanium
also check Note 680617 - INST: Appl.Server in Heterogeneous SAP System Environment

Hi Judith,
first of all, I would say, it is not really helpful, to install a server on a platform, that you do not know ;-((
Why ? Very eazy: Even when you are able to install, you are not able to optimize the installation ;-((
What happens often during installation ?
If you do have problems with the DB-Connect, this is typically a problem with an outdated QXDAEDRS.DLL. The latest i5 Access is typcically not sufficient. We used for Win 32 11.0.0.4 a few days ago. If you are no longer able to find a running version of this tool in the web, let us know. Then we can provide this 11.0.0.4.
What platform are you using ? Win 32 or X64 ?
