Hi All
While starting to design the application structure(layout/components/classes), what are the decision points to be considered to select a UIBB? when should one go for Generic UIBB(i.e. Feeder classes) and when should one opt for Freestyle(List UIBB/ Tab UIBB/ Form UIBB) ?

Hi Mitesh,
there is no general answer to your question. But when you start with FPM development you should consider that the usage of GUIBB's allow modification free adjustments. That enables your customers to assemble the UI content completely free by their own - which is definetely a major benefit. In difference to the usage of GUIBBs we (the means the FPM development team) consider the usage of Freestyle UIBBs more as a kind of breakout approach for content that does not fit to the List & Form template.
Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas
Thanks for the reply. Actually this question came while deciding on the strategy or best practice in term of UIBB usage. As in some cases, both the UIBB methods do provide similar level of flexibility.
Does SAP provide any Best Practice document or use case scenarios? recommending when to use what method?
Thanks
Mitesh
Hi Mitesh,
Were you able to arrive at a guidelines/best practices which developers should take care of while designing their UIBBs/GUIBBs for designing a consistent application architecture?
We are having to make a similar decision at our organization and I am collecting case studies of projects that have used FPM and incorporate best practices.
Any pointers towards this from an architectural perspective would be helpful.
Thanks,
Puja
