Moving \usr\sap\trans

Hello,

We are planning to move \usr\sap\trans from DEV (domain controller) system to PRD system. We are not sure where we suppose change the profile and windows environment values to reflect the new changes. The systems are on Windows OS with MS-SQL.

It would be great If any one can refer the Notes/links.

Thanks,

Kris

So you are just moving the directory? Or are you making PRD the domain controller?

Good question from Kevin. The domain controller and the transport directory does not need to be on the same host. You can have your /usr/sap/trans directory on the PRD host but your domain controller can still be DEV.

Kind regards,

That was my thought as well. We actually use a common file share server to host the trans directory. This way, we are free to move our SAP instances between different physical servers and not have to worry about moving trans.

Hi

I just found the following SAP notes.

[Note 49967 - Moving the transport directory|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/49967]

[Note 62739 - Configuring a central transport host|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/62739]

Though both notes are quite old, I believe still it is valid.
