Hello Experts,
Can someone kindly explain to me if the ITS is required for the implementation of Universal Worklist ? I am working on a project that requires some form of workflow approval using web dynpro in the front. Thank you.

Hi Kwok,
ITS is not necessary for using UWL.
There are many options for using UWL with Workflow workitems.
1. SAP WebGUI
2. ITS Miniapps
3. Java iViews
4. BSP Apps ... maybe more than these also ...
However, the most important thing is settings in Portal for the usage of UWL, (there is a UWL configuration guide available in SDN itself) and also you need to do configuration settings in backend R/3 systems. Please refer the documentation for the transactions SWNCONFIG and SWNADMIN for the same.
Steps:
1. Configure R/3 for workitem visualization in UWL via SWNCONFIG and SWNADMIN
2. Configure UWL
Please note: The order of the steps above is crucial.
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Gaurav

No, you can configure UWL to use WinGUI instead. ITS ist not needed, but configuration effort raises...

yes ITS is needed for UWL. It uses ITS to show the transaction attached to workflow(webgui).
