BO 4.0 in different OS

Hello,

We got new server which has Windows Server 2008 installed in it and loaded our DEV data into it. Our IT team are providing Windows Server 2012 now.

Can we have DEV in Win-2008 and UAT and LIVE in WIN-2012. Technically would it have any problems. We will be using LCM or manually uploading reports from DEV,UAT, PROD.

Regards,

S

this should be fine. You cannot mix OS versions when hosting CMS servers in the same cluster, but for diff. environment having different OS version is OK.

The only part that needs special attention is the database connectivity for your reports. It has to work on all machines.

Also, it is better to have UAT and PROD on the same OS, as otherwise UAT test results will not be apples to apples with PROD.

Thanks for all your replies.

BO 4.0 in Win-2012 works fine. You just need to do some manual work. After Installation, below 32-bit services are not started and some are in Initializing state

1) ConnectionServer32

2) CrystalReports2011ProcessingServer

3) CrystalReports2011ReportApplicationServer

When I check the installation log and found that many 32 bit dll's didn;t get register. I have to manually register them again by using command REGSVR32.

Below is the example for some

regsvr32 "D:\Program Files\Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\EnterpriseFramework.dll"

regsvr32 "D:\Program Files\Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\InfoStor.dll"

regsvr32 "D:\Program Files\Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\PluginManager.dll"

Hi,

maybe this works - OK. But you are definetly on an unsupported Environment and if you have to open a Message with the SAP Support they can refuse to help you.

Like Seb said - you can make a lot of things work , but if that places you on an unsupported platform, why would you ?

The PAR documents exist for a reason. Platforms you find there were tested by SAP and product works best on them.

Hello Shashi,

Windows Server 2012 is not supported in BO 4.0. You can check the PAM according to your version here.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/e01d4e05-6ea5-2c10-1bb6-a8904ca76411

To my knowledge Windows Server 2012 is supported only in BO 4.1 which is still in Rampup and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Service Pack 6 also supports Windows Server 2012.
