Background job status notifications

Hello SAP experts, I am in need of Your assistance.
I'm looking for how to set up an email notification with the status of a job.
Currently, we're on Basis Version 740

I have a job that we'll call BATCH_JOB, which runs every hour.
What I want to happen is to set up a notification that is sent to certain emails if the job fails.
I don't care about the spool list, just the status of the periodic job.

Does SAP have any built in tools for this, or would custom code be required?

Hey, as configured, I only get the status of the released job, not the jobs that are finished/canceled
