Applet mode not working with java 1.8

Hi guys

We have SAP 4.1 and I have recently upgraded my java version to 1.8. But after the upgrade, I noticed that my webi reports fail to load in applet mode. It says that my java session has timed out every single time I open a webi report. However if I switch to HTML mode, it starts working . Is that an issue?

Is there a workaround?

Nutty,

     Depending on the patch version you running JAVA 1.8 is not supported, see link below for JAVA related issues.

What BI 4.1 version ?

Have you checked the PAM?

Hi Ajay its BI 4.1 with support pack 3 and version is 14.1.3.1257

Nutty,

     For BI 4.1 w/ SP3 (Released on Mar 29th 2014), JAVA ver 1.8 is NOT supported (see below)

You are running an UN-supported version BI4, it tool old.  No vendor can make a product forward compatible.   You need to be running BI 4.1 w/ SP4 or better to support Java 1.8
