SAP Cloud Platform Regions and Service Portfolio – We've Moved

For the past three years, the Region and Service Portfolio was the place to go when you wanted to find out which SAP Cloud Platform service was available in which region. As of November 1st, 2020, the content of the Regions and Service Portfolio has moved to the SAP Discovery Center. The old portfolio has been discontinued.

 

What is the SAP Discovery Center?


 

The SAP Discovery Center is an online resource for onboarding and enablement. It allows you to quickly launch your projects and accelerate your innovations. In the Discovery Center, you will be inspired by use cases and guided from project initiation to solution implementation inside structured missions.

The Discovery Center also includes a service catalog that allows you to explore all available services on SAP Cloud Platform. In addition to what you could do in the portfolio, the service catalog lets you filter for available license models, and the new service details pages provide rich information about features, related tools, APIs, and documentation. You can also add services to our estimator tool to get a pricing estimate for your projects.

Where do I find the regions map in the Discovery Center?


 

The Discovery Center has been recently enhanced with a map-based filtering functionality that allows you to get an overview of, and filter for, the available regions or services around the globe:


Tip: In the service catalog, choose Show Filters and the globe icon to quickly open the map:



Where can I see which regions a specific service runs on?


 

Selecting a region in the world map filters the list of services to only display services available in that region.

You can also:

  • Switch to the list view to see all the regions available for all services:

  • Open a service page and see the available regions for a specific service in the Service Plan tab:

Hi sarah.anselm ,

thanks for this helpful blog! This map was in the past very helpful to us in educating potential customers on the world wide possibilities.

Some comments to the new map:

  • You should perhaps add the hint that the globe icon is visible after show filters has been clicked. This hint is also missing on the old "SAP Cloud Platform Regions and Service Portfolio" page.

  • Legends shows AliCloud, however AliCloud is missing in the Provider Dropdown

  • Unfortunatly the map display can't be filtered via a service. In the past it was very helpful to be able to show the customer a map with all locations where eg Mobile Services is available or where a combination of several services is available. Please add such a filtering!!!

  • The labels are very big and with the white backdrop they hide a lot of details

  • Thanks for the hint about the "Show Filters" button. I have now updated the screenshots and this blog post according to the new UI. We will republish the old portfolio tomorrow.

  • Information on Alicloud will be available from Wednesday morning, CET.

  • I have forwarded your feedback on the filtering capabilities to the Discovery Center colleagues, they'll look into it.
