The Release Navigator for SAP BTP continues to evolve and improve to meet the needs of our customers. With the latest update in Q2 2024 in addition to the quarterly maintenance of resources, users can access new product pages and a new consolidated release schedule in a simplified and streamlined interface.
These updates reflect our commitment to continuously improve content coverage and user experience based on your valuable feedback. In this blog post, we will highlight the key enhancements and additions made in Q2 2024.

Release schedules are now being communicated more transparently thanks to close collaboration with various SAP BTP teams. Compared to 2023, more than 40 new products and services now announce their release dates via SAP Notes in SAP for Me.

These notes are accessible through the Consolidated Release Schedules for SAP BTP, which can be found in the Release Calendar section of the navigator.

Please note: To access SAP Notes you need to log in to SAP for Me using your Universal ID or S-user ID. Read more about the required authorizations here.

We have published a quarterly maintenance update with the Q2 release cycle. Links and resources have been updated according to the latest feature releases. Moving forward, new and retiring content will be marked with a green or red badge.

Additionally, in Q1 all release navigators received streamlined and consistent UX across solution areas for improved ease of use.

Looking ahead, here's a sneak peek at some of the roadmap items planned for the release navigator:

  • Q3: Additional UX elements will be added and aligned across solution areas.
  • Q4: More products and services will be included in the Release Navigator.

I have to say that the page layout and how the controls are used in the Release Navigator is very confusing. Some tiles just display text content, some have links, some are scrollable, some are for navigation. Why not stick to the Fiori Design Guidelines and use some Page Design which is common in the SAP World, like an Object Page with sections?!

Hi @nicorunge, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, we appreciate it!

We are continuously improving the layout and page design and are following Fiori Design Guidelines. We are happy to take your feedback into account for future improvements!

Best regards

Why start a new portal? Couldn't this be part of the Discovery Center? The choice to build a separate portal may originate from a desire to deliver a more personalized experience, focus on a certain set of services, or provide a platform for a particular audience. In my opinion, it merely adds to the already complex offering of BTP resources.

Right now my go-to place is What's New for SAP Business Technology Platform. Can you elaborate what additional value the Release Navigator for SAP BTP adds in addition?

Hi @Astradyne, thank you for your feedback. The release navigator aims to make it easier to find your way through the complex landscape of resources by consolidating them for the topic of release information. We are investigating if an integration in the Discovery Center could be possible in the future.

Hi @gregorw, thanks for your question.

The page  What's New for SAP Business Technology Platform showcases technical release notes after a release and, in some cases, previews upcoming features shortly before a release happens.

However, more release resources exist, which provide information before a release (e.g. the SAP Roadmap Explorer), provide additional details and enablement (e.g. webcasts, blog posts, or videos) or provide release information via different channels (e.g. email newsletters). The release navigator consolidates all of these resources in a single location so users can find all these helpful resources easily.

Long story short, the release navigator provides more information than the What's New page in the SAP Help Portal.

Hello everyone,

The next update to the release navigator, which includes a mayor UI improvement in line with other navigator pages, will be delayed from the originally projected schedule.

You can expect the update to go live by calendar week 37-38.
