For SAP Fieldglass super user administrators Configuration Manager alleviates the need to rely on Help Desk tickets for certain types of configurations. It provides self-service capability to do two things – manage integrations and change settings in the application

Be agile and empowered

Today’s business is rapidly changing requiring the tools we use to be more dynamic and flexible. To alleviate pressure on program governance, data and processes need to keep up with those rapid changes and demands. This can be technically challenging, expensive, and resource intensive often leading to task being deemed not feasible.

Super users manage integration and setup needs empowering them to drive their timelines, reduce demands on IT resources, and improve efficiency. The best part is there is no need to submit a Help Deck ticket and wait for weeks for tasks to be resolved.

Configuration Manager Components

The power of the Configuration Manager is comprised of four components which are Integration Tools, Partner Management, Single Sign-On, Publish/Subscribe Framework, and Implementation Tools. The components allow for a reduction in demand for IT resources leading to improved efficiency.

Self-Service Dashboard Tiles in Configuration Manager

The primary purpose of SAP Fieldglass integrations is to move data securely from one system to another system. There’s a starting point where the data resides and an ending point where the data needs to be delivered. Using two types of connectors, upload and download, data can be populated between the client’s system and SAP Fieldglass.

The components allow for a reduction in demand for IT resources leading to improved efficiency. Additionally, the functionality decreases the amount of time it takes to process data and increases data accuracy by removing the chance for errors introduced by manual entry.

Integration Tools

For super users, wizards make their job easier by guiding them through select feature and integration setups with audit trails allowing review of integration activities.

  • The Integration Connector Wizard takes the guesswork out of which connector to use through an intuitive wizard framework which guides super users through a series of preconfigured questions to find the best fit for their needs.

  • A customer self-service dashboard, the Integration Connector Enabler, speeds-up productivity with drag and drop, UI based configurability to define specifications and security, customize fields and templates, select transfer methods, and set up optional connector variants and scheduling.

  • Setting up SFTP end points is possible with End Point Management which allows the super user to setup the end points with the appropriate license key and to schedule integration runs.

  • Activity Monitoring from the Integration Audit Trail page allows super users to monitor batch and real-time data transport activity and the modification log displays a log of all changes that are made.

  • Address local and national laws and governance, such as markups, value added tax (VAT) and National Insurance (NI) using Rate Tools to maintain components and test rate rules.

Partner Management

Partner Management provides access to a growing network of partner integrations on the dashboard. Active migrations are displayed as a tile labeled with the partner’s name. When a tile is selected, it opens the partner’s administrative setup pages where the integration can be self-managed.

  • The OpenText ECM is an Enterprise Content Management repository allowing super users to store all document attachments outside of the SAP Fieldglass database.

  • This Maintain OpenText ECM tile allows super users to create and maintain an OpenText ECM end point. Once created, they can edit the username and password details of the end point or disable the end point.

Single Sign-On

A reduction in setup time from days or weeks to hours is possible using the intuitive wizard framework to configure, edit, manage, and troubleshoot Single Sign-On (SSO) setup using industry standard SAML. Super users will receive notifications when their SSO certificate is close to expiration so they can manage the update.

The SSO configuration defines values for the following services:

  • The Identity Provider Details (IdP) primary role is to authenticate the user and generate a SAML Response to be consumed by SAP Fieldglass.

  • The Service Provider Details (SP) primary role is to consume the authentication request sent by the IdP and grant access to the service for that user. In an SP-initiated SSO scenario, the SP also acts as the "initiating entity" that generates a SAML Request to be consumed by the IdP.

Publish/Subscribe Framework

The Publish/Subscribe tools provide individual pages for managing payloads and subscriptions, as well as a setup wizard that allows super users to configure all these elements in a single workflow. For example, they can subscribe to worker close activities and when that activity occurs, the data will be sent directly to the specified end point. This eliminates the need to pull the data on a schedule as it will push in real time.

Multiple tiles in the Publish/Subscribe-Framework section on the dashboard open pages where super users can take one or more actions to manage their real-time application activity.

  • The setup tile allows for configuration of all the elements needed for real-time integration activity in one workflow.

  • Selecting create payload allows for the addition of a new payload or test and editing an existing payload.

  • View payload allows for viewing and editing of the details of a payload, testing payload generation, or adding a new payload.

  • The Create Payload Publish Subscribe page allows for creation of a new element by selecting an existing payload and endpoint and defining which activity and supplier to generate the payload for. The Payload Publish Subscribe can also be edited or deleted after it's created.

  • View Payload Publish Subscribe allows for viewing of the existing Payload Publish Subscribe entries and editing or deletion of the entries and creation of a new Payload Publish Subscribe entry.

Implementation Tools

Giving super users the power to implement rate changes in a test environment, Implementation Tools are available to confirm their proof of concept before applying the setup in SAP Fieldglass. To test the setup of the rate change matrix and tenure features, the configuration manager can apply rate change matrices (with and without tenure) in the simulator. The simulator is an Excel file that can be downloaded from the Self-Service Dashboard.

In the past, this was a feature that required a Level 2 Help Desk ticket as changes to rate component values could recalculate over 1000 rates causing a negative impact. By allowing only super users the access to make changes, they can cut the time to adjust rates down from days to weeks to hours.
