Dartmouth College Tuck School of Business
Understanding the Strategic Nature of IT with SAP University Alliances and the ERP Simulation Game

In December 2012, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College began using the SAP ERP Simulation Game in the classroom. This innovation in Tuck’s curriculum was led by Eric Johnson, Associate Dean for the MBA Program, Professor of the Science of Administration, and Director of the Center for Digital Strategies. Professor Johnson believes this innovative curriculum will help students understand the strategic nature of IT.

Forty second year MBA students in “Enterprise Systems and the Governance of Integrated Organizations” used the SAP ERP Simulation Game to gain a holistic picture of the role enterprise systems play in supporting business strategy. The course instructor was Pierre-Majorique Leger, visiting professor from HEC Montreal, a SAP University Alliances member school which developed and continually enhances the ERP Simulation Game for use in University Alliances member schools.

Feedback from the Tuck students was very positive. Teams shared that experience with SAP ERP and SAP Crystal Dashboard Design enabled them to see how enterprise systems and analytics enable organizations to optimize operational and financial performance.
