Milan, the second largest city of Italy, is not only well-known for its fashion industry, great food and many interesting sights such as the cathedral or the famous opera Teatro alla Scala but also for its university landscape. The city is home to the oldest Italian university, the Politecnico di Milano, and the renowned Bocconi University, a private management and finance school.

From December 15 – 18, 2013 the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) took place at the Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. ICIS is one of the most important IS gatherings of academics and practitioners and had more than 1,600 attendees. Professors, lecturers, doctoral students and IT experts joint the AIS event with the overall theme “Reshaping Society Through Information Systems Design”. During the 3 days academic conference, several paper sessions, poster presentations, panel discussions, and forums were held to learn more about the latest research topics. Furthermore the attendees had the opportunity to network with their fellow researchers from all around the world and had the chance to get in contact with representatives from IT companies and publishing houses in the dedicated exhibition area.

Together with colleagues from the UCC Munich, the SAP University Alliances team was onsite with a booth in the exhibition area to get in contact with the attendees, both from existing and prospective member institutions, and inform them about the latest UA program offerings/ updates. This included amongst other things the newly launched SAP Banking Curriculum and the SAP MOOC offering openSAP. Furthermore we received valuable feedback from the attendees about the current curriculum offering as well as wishes for 2014.

Overall it was a really successful event with lots of interesting touch points for future collaboration.

The next ICIS conference will be held in Auckland, New Zealand December 14 - 17, 2014.
