Work Permits

Hello,

We need information about Work Permits in EHS (help link). Mainly we need to know if it is standard functionality or some extensión.

Hi,

There is no standard functionality available in SAP EH&S to deal with the work permits.

this functionality available in SAP PM - (Plant maintenance) (or) EAM - (enterprise asset management).

The logic to keep them in the SAP PM - Usually the work permits will be issued, whenever there is work planned in the premises. most of the works will be taken care by maintenance department, i.e, civil, mechanical, electrical, etc., and safety permits like height permit, vessel entry, etc., also the technicians/ workers are part of any of the maintenance group.

In SAP PM, general permits and WCM (Work clearance management) available. general permits will be used, whenever there is a requirement of just notifying/ informing to the person responsible and also getting approval in system. You have one permits button available in the maintenance work order. if that equipment is related to the permits, program will not allow you to release the order, without releasing the permits. the permit button have the different authorization object, which will be assigned to the limited profiles/ users.

WCM will be used whenever there is a extensive usage of permits, by maintaining the documents in the system. like LOTO etc.,

To use SAP Environmental Compliance 3.0, the following licenses are required:

* SAP Business Suite user

* SAP EHS Management or SAP EHS Management: Environmental Compliance

SAP Environmental Compliance 3.0 runs in SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.1 CE.

On the portal, you need to use the Business Package for SAP Environmental Compliance 3.0.

BTW Permit Work can be handled through PM.

Hi,

The work permit model starts from PM however the new solution e-PTW which has an extended functionality that been well integrated with Risk assessment, Job hazard analysis in EHSM with standard workflow triggered approvals.

The new solution of e-PTW will work in ERP 6.0 ehp 6 extension. Please find the useful links to read about it.
