Hi experts,
I have a question for the product registration in EHS module. The scenario is like a product is not on the country inventory list, and have to register it before it can be sold in the market. Is it if we use SVT NOTICHCK function, it will be blocked due to no positive notification status? But the thing is, if we maintain the data in Registration (Company-Specific) in property tree, will it be regarded as for volume tracking, not part of the NOTICHCK check? Also the registeration is done on material level, not by substance, can this still be handle in EHS?
Along with this, also another general question for exemption in SVT, any possible function in SVT to handle exemption, that even it's on the negative list, but with exemption setting somewhere on the substance level, block will not be applied?
I find one related topic in the forum, to suggest to use GTS, but not familiar with that part.
Anyone has some suggestion, are welcome.
Thanks.

Dear John
you need to understand the different options using SAP ERP.and the integration with SAP EHS Management (or SAP GTS).
a.) You can integrate SAP ERP with SAP GTS to handle "sold to" etc. topics
b.) You can use NOTICHK function do do so
c.) you can use EHS SVT do do so
Registration (Company-Specific) => used for SVT only (to my knowledge)
NOTICHCK function: e.g. refer to: consolut - CATEEHSPS_EHP3_015 - CATEEHSPS EHP3 015
http://www.consolut.com/en/s/sap-ides-access/d/s/doc/YY-CBRC_CHCK_ONLINE
and similar links
First you need to understand SVT scenarios. We do have:
Import
Export
Production
Sales
etc. Check e.g. Scenarios and Tables for Substance Volume Tracking - Product Safety (EHS-SAF) - SAP Library
Registration: Material level / Reak_Sub level etc.
SVT is mainly related to tracking of something. But you can take care as well on topics which to not have a volume limit. All this is done (on high level) on either REAL_SUB and or Tracked Substance level. On material level you can "only" switch on / off tracking. Nothing more.
Generally. EHS has been enlarged a lot. You can do "something" indirect. You can prepare a new value assignment type with reference of one characteristic to a material number and then specify something like: material number x is released/listed for e.g. TSCA. But you need to pay attention that in doing so the material specification assignemnt must be stable
Regarding:

To use SVT you need a good (very ! good) concept. You need to differentiate data maintenance with effect in processes (SAP ERP process, block yes no etc.), You can maintain something like. REAL_SUB is on "negative" list; but this does not "automatic" mean you will get "blocks" etc. Here the business/technical concept is" critical" to get a robust solution (which is user friednly as well). SVT is more complex in set up design etc. in comparison to e.g. SDS distribution or DG check set up.
The use of GTS is a "additional" solution. But as GTS requires a further SAP license: this might be to expensive based on company size.

Dear John
let us assume you would like to use SVT (refer to http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_07/helpdata/en/43/94291f1122345be10000000a422035/content.htm?framese... Chapter "Substance Volume Tracking" and any subchapter.
You need to differentiat three major parts in SVT. One part is the "maintenance" one. To a certain extent this is explained here:
Data Transfer from Property Tree - Product Safety (EHS-SAF) - SAP Library
And the SVT "reactions" in SAP ERP. Here once again we have two "subparts".
a.) the tracking as such (Volume Determination - Product Safety (EHS-SAF) - SAP Library)
b.) and the "blocking" Online Checks - Product Safety (EHS-SAF) - SAP Library
Chapter; Online Checks
On high level there is no real difference if the CAS number is listed in the sense "positive" (material with this CASnumber can be sold etc.) or if it is listed "negative" (material can not be sold in most cases). EHS does not "know" this.
E.g. normally you will create two regulatory lists. And regarding both of them the CAS number is listed. Now in the one case you can sell etc without problem in the other case you can not. Therefore you need to think about "system" reaction (block). Here SVT is providing to you a lot of functionaliy. You can only "track" without further reaction; you can track and you will get "logs" message in MM or SD process or you can "block" for SD and MM process. Please read carefully any SVT OSS note (consulting notes). Some of them are "must to read" as they explain you how to do it "correct" and what is possible and what not (out of the box).
Therefore based on your SVT setup you can "block" the process (and only e.g. a user with some "expertise" (and having higher access rights) can "unblock" etc. As the options are many the solution might be different. E.g. you can generate "popup/logs" like this:
REACh: no problem
TSCA: blocked
CEPA: no problem etc.
(nearly on same level as with DG blocks)
etc.
Or you can enhance the texts like. TSCA:blocked: please come into contact with... "
On the top you can implement eMail notification to persons taking care blocks or message ....
