S/4 HANA Hybrid Connector - Classic vs New Product compliance solution

Hello All,

From the Latest EHS Product compliance infodays 2024 we got an update Verisk 3E launched a Hybrid connector to fill the capability gap and connect the classic product Safety solution and S/4 New Dangerous goods Management  solution by which SDS Generation can be performed in classsic product Safety solution  and new S/4  Dangerous goods management would be integrated in the logistics areas.

But two major Queries :-

1) Will this Hybrid connector enable us to transfer the classic DG master data to Advanced DG Basic/Enclosure specific classification and can it be enhanced from there ?  or How exactly should we maintain the DG data whether in classic DG or new DG solution or else in both DG areas from DG specialist perspective ?

2) will this connector allow us to transfer the Advanced New S/4 DG data to Classic Product safety section 14  information ?

  Also do we have any other solution in pipeline other than this Verisk 3E Hybrid connector ?

What about a solution for SVT? This functionality seems to be lacking address in these PC info days. It surely is underdeveloped (and almost useless) in SAP S/4HANA for PC on-prem (and private cloud). For companies that deal with substances with "legal amount limitations" (I don't know how to put this better in English) SVT is fundamental tool...

Hi Vasanth,

there are currently two solutions out for connecting the PC classic with the PC new solution:

- Ulrike vom 3E company has done the very informative session on the "Hybrid Connector" last week. Maybe Ulrike or another colleague from 3E can answer your detailed questions.

- The other solution is provided by SAP Services. The DG topic you are mentioning is a topic that is currently busying us from SAP Services as well. We are currently in discussions with some of our customers. At SAP Services, there is no ready out-of-the-box solution for this special DG topic available right now today. But we have a plan to extend our existing PC Sync Tool and intend to build a solution in the first half of next year. We cannot share more details at this place here right now.

Please see below the answer from 3E:

Answer: The Hybrid adapter transfers Basic DG classification from Classic to New, it does not transfer packaging specific data. The idea is to do the basic DG classification in Classic (automatic or manually) and transfer it once it is saved to New. In New the packaging data can be added, and all further DG Management can be done in New.

2. Question will this connector allow us to transfer the Advanced New S/4 DG data to Classic Product safety section 14 information ?

Answer: The 3E Hybrid adapter can currently not transfer DG data from New to Classic due to different data models. We are evaluating if there is a possibility to print section 14 data from New in the WWI report in Classic.

Dear Paulo,

as I had already tried to explain in my reply to your post  Re: SAP S/4HANA for Product Compliance: SVT - Issues with..., in the area of Substance Volume Tracking we are currently working together with our customers in the Continuous Customer Engagement sessions on the evaluation of the SVT-specific requirements of various different regulations. The outcome of this work is more on a conceptual level and not suited for a presentation at the Info Days, where we show/demo what new innovations were developed in recent releases. 

As soon as we do have new innovations included in the Substance Volume Tracking solution we will also include the topic substance volume tracking again in the Info Days.

Dear Michael

Thank you, again, for your attention. I do recall your help in my SVT related post, which has been most helpful.

But my  comment in this post was regarding 3E's hybrid connector and if it can be used to transfer (master) data from New PC to Classic PC - mainly product compositions, substances... - so classic SVT can be used without having to "fully" implement both functionalities in my costumer (they don't have the classic solution running and I'm afraid I'm not familiar, yet, with it).

I hope I can stay in touch and exchange experiences, ideas, solutions and challenges regarding SVT.

i am not allowed to share details of 3E adapter. But the concept used on Product Compliance (regarding SVT) and in SVT EHS Classic does not really fit (i skip to list the details). To use the 3E Adapter: get in touch with 3E direct please. There are some prerequisites. Only if you can satisfy this.. it makes sense to use 3E adapter.

UNtil that point in time... we have to use SVT EHS Classic; the process in Product Compliance is partially different to EHS classic. So it is not easy to map both solutions. The 3E Adapter is an option.

As we can expect (assumption) November 2025 next "on prem" version... sometimes we must wait (or we must use "On Cloid" variant.
