What is the Difference between Vendor and Supplier?

VENDOR: A business partner from whom materials or services can be procured.

SUPPLIER: A business partner from whom materials or services is delivered/provided.

e.g. in the European union Intrastat reporting you have to report based on goods movement from whihc country to which country the goods where moved.

If your vendor is a global player located in Belgium with a plant in Finland, then you may send your order to Belgium and get your products from Finland.

In this case the Belgium company is your vendor, while the Finland company is just the goods supplier. This has to mentioned in the partners of your PO. SAP can then know that the goods came from Finland instead of Belgium for Intrastat report.

Both mean the same to me although there are different partner functions for vendor such as Goods supplier,Ordering address,invoicing party.

Supplier is primarily the one which supplies parts to another company for use in their products. Suppliers usually work from their own companies.

Vendor is someone who provides on-site services, and these services may or may not include in customer/s products.

This is what i feel. But there can be other perceptions also...Lets hear from others too..
