Hi,

I Had multiple questions on SAP SSC if anyone has the answer for the same.

1. if i want to run the same with ECC what is required to integrate the same.

2. there is a string mention of "Bottom up" configuration but how does that work with without a BOM especially when i am pushing the created model to a sales order.

3. and what is the role of solution modeling environment, does it come with SAP SSC or a separate purchase

Hi @adityayadav.

SSC can process

  • classical VC models with a top-down BOM approach where the maximal BOM is defined and the sales BOM is derived by choosing certain BOM items through selection conditions assigned to the items
  • SSC solution models that must be maintained using SSC's solution modeling environment (SME) where you write rules that add arbitrary number of items as needed (called bottom-up)

That means, SME comes with SSC and is needed to create solutions models, for example to build a guided selling model on top of existing VC models.

For ERP integration, you must license and activate the corresponding add-on to be able to use the SSC configurator instead of VC for example in sales orders and to store the solution models created in SME.

If you have created a multi-level configuration with SSC, ERP can only takeover the results and process them in follow-up processes when the results are mapped to a dummy VC model with classical max BOM. I leave that to the SSC experts here to explain in more detail. 🙂

Just to add: The ABAP add-on for ECC and S/4HANA is part of the SSC license. It does not need to be licensed separately.

You can map the result of a solution configuration coming from SSC into a sales order without using a max BOM. Your order will contain a hierarchy of items and subitems according to so called relational characteristics in the SSC configuration result "is_part" and "has_part". If you then want to proceed to standard follow-up processes like production order, the system needs to map the SSC configuration result to a BOM. That happens automatically, but you need to create the max. bom.

just one more question, how is SSC different from The configuration and pricing services (CPS) on BTP

CPS is the standard that is used when (A)VC models are created in ERP or S/4 and should also be used in SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP CPQ, or other (3rd-party) applications.

SSC addresses customers that need such complex solutions so that using a max BOM does not work, or knowledgebase orchestration is needed, or maybe other features that SSC offers on top.

The licenses of the latest generation of SSC also include CPS, because SSC uses nowadays CPS' data replication and Pricing service.
