Deletion of material groups

In the baseline activation Service, several Materials Groups have been identified. These MG are no longer necessary and are causing confusion for the end users. I've seen this issue discussed in the SAP community "How can we delete a material group?", but this question is already years ago. Is it possible to delete these material groups?

Deletion of material groups - created from customer - can be requested by pre-approved expert configuration. Please see details of the procedure in SAP Activate Roadmap - Request Expert Configuration.

SAP delivered content cannot be deleted.

During the baseline activation Service, the Materials Groups have been deliverd by SAP Consultants. These MG's are no longer necessary and are causing confusion for the end users. Would there be an workaround for those, to avoid confusion for the end users?
