Long text in SE91. How it works?

se91.jpgHello all,

I need to change the message text in SE91 to new one, but this is too long and does not fit on one line. I have three questions, please:

1 - Do I understand correctly that in this case I need to use "Long text" here?

2 - Do I need to check "Self-explanatory" in this case? (when using long text)?
P.s. Now this jackdaw is inactive for my message no

3 - For example, the new message text consists of 3 sentences. I can add only the first sentence to the "Message short text", and add all 3 sentences to the Long text". In this case, my message in other transactions will be displayed as 3 sentences (long text) or only as 1 (short text)?

Thank you in advance for the info! This is the first time I work with this. Need your advice, please 🙂

Hello protego_16

First, have a look at SAP Help: Creating Long Texts for Messages.

I'd say that the message short text should be informative. If your message is too long, try to use abbreviations. The message long text should provide additional explanation. The message mustn't be marked as "self explanatory" if you need to maintain its long text. "Self explanatory" means "no long text needed".

Short text and long text are translated separately.
