We are trying to set up a few new extension fields but we would like them to be mandatory. Is there a way to make it mandatory?

Hi Kristen Ewen,

If the extension fields are created through PDI then you can not change the properties in adaptation mode.

You have to login to studio and from there you can change the properties through extensible explorer.

Next step

If the fields are in the custom BO then you need to change by script.

Hello Kristen,

Through adaption mode as a key user you can see the field properties.

Then mark the field option "Mandatory" on your extension field.

Hi Khayan,

Thank you for your response. How do I access the field properties? I can't find a way to get in to make it mandatory.

Kind Regards,

Kristen

Hi Kristen,

To see the field properties you need to be a key user.

In case you are a key user, go to the screen when the field is displayed and so, follow the steps below:

Go to Adapt menu.

Click in Edit Master Layout.

In edition mode, when you pass the mouse over the field a menu will be shown.

Click over the first icon “Change Properties”.

So there, to the extension filed the option “Mandatory” should be selected.

After it go to adapt menu again and click in “End layout changes” to complete the changes.

I hope this steps be helpful for you.

Hi Kristen,

I hope you are fine.

After add the extension field on the screen, you can access the field properties and then mark the field option "Mandatory" on your extension field. The same way that you can do for standard fields.

In case any question, please let me know. 🙂

Best Regards,

Khayan
