Hi venkat,
Common distribution channel and common division is maintained to reduce the master data redundancy. i.e, you can access a customer of any sales area in the order process.
Reporting requirements are generated specific to customer sales area, sales office, sales group, sales district etc. and hence it can be generated.
So this has nothing to do with common distribution channel and common division.
hope this will help you.

Hi Venkat
Common Distribution Channel & Division is maintained for stopping the redundant master data record maintainance.Suppose Customer No.xyz is existing in Saleas Area 1000/10/10, the same customer can be extended to another Sales Area too..
Lets say Sales Area1=1000/10/10(comprising of Sales Organisation ,Distribution Channel & Division), another Sales Area2=1000/10/20
Here though the Dis. Channel is same, but Sales Areas are different, so there will not be any issue in Reporting.

hi
in practical business senerios, reports are mostly considered on Sales Area Basis.. business would more look into the Sales Area's Progress, the basic use of reports is to analyze the business proces or progress, and to do so people would refer to sales area first later on people woled look into divs and dist chnls

Hi venkat,
Common division/distribution channel is used for easy sales process. Like a costomer wants multiple products which we sale it through different divisions.
while generating reports it will take divisions/distribution channels separately.
Ex. costomer A bought 10 products fron x division and 20 from Y. in reoprts it will show for x div. 10 sold to A , for y div. 20 sold to A.
Reward points, it encourages me.

Hi Venkat
Common Distribution Channel and Common Divison are maintained so that if any master data like customer or material maintained with respect to one distribution channel can be used in other DCh. It prevents the multiplication of master records.
Eg: A customer is created for say sales area 1000/20/00 then the same customer can be used in sales area 1000/30/00 if we maintain 20 as common distribution channel. Hence no need for extending the customers...the same for materials also.
