Hi All,
I have been working as an ABAP developer for the past 1 year. Now i have been put in a project where i'm supposed to work as a SAP CC consultant.I'm really confused as to whether I should take it up or not.
As per my team mates SAP CC is a niche skill and if i become a CC consultant , it would be better for my career and I can go places since the resources having this skill is very less in the market as compared to ABAP.
However since i'm from a computer science background, Coding has always been my forte and I am also not sure whether there is high demand for SAP CC in the market or not.
Please guide me on this as I'm very confused.

Faiz

Hi Faiz,
You must try different things to be successful in life. I know you are good programmer, but then you would make complete consultant, when you have multiple skills. People are really eager to work on niche skills. If I am in your position, probably, I would go with SAP CC.
I know it is difficult to work on a product, where you do not have much knowledge. Initially, you may be struggling, but once you complete your project / assignment, you would be the most satisfied person.
All the best.
Kind Regards,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
I completely agree with you that one would get to become a complete consultant, when we have multiple skills but in my case since I have just worked in ABAP for only 1 year, therefore there is still a lot of areas in ABAP itself which is still unexplored.
So a part of me tells me to continue in ABAP till I master it and then move on to some other areas in SAP and the other part tells me to take up CC since its a niche skill and therefore I would get more opportunities early in life.
So what do you suggest?

Faiz

Hi Faiz,
I do understand your concern. You can find many ABAP roles even at a later stage of your career.
But, the niche projects comes once in a life time, if you miss them once, you miss them forever. Therefore, I would still suggest you go with this new skill.
Please note there is no end learning things, you can even learn for life. We cannot postpone the things because of this.

Ravi
